Wronged workers recover record $88M thanks to California law

Law-breaking employers paid more than $88 million in penalties last year under a progressive California law that guards workplace rights, a new report finds. That’s up dramatically from $30.3 million in 2018. The Private Attorneys General Act lets workers sue on behalf of the State of California to recover civil penalties on behalf of the State and affected workers for labor violations. Investigation: PIH Data Breach

Keller Grover LLP is investigating a medical data breach involving PIH Health.  According to a data breach notification recently sent to affected patients, email accounts of certain PIH Health employees were accessed by unauthorized third parties.  Information contained within the breached email accounts included patient names, treatment and diagnosis information, Social Security Numbers, and driver’s license numbers.
