California law provides that if an employer requires an employee to wear any clothing items of a specific color other than black or white, design or material, the employer must pay for the items. In addition, an employer may not require an employee to purchase any item from the employer. A number of California employers have recently entered into multi-million dollar settlements to settle class action uniform claims.
